Ethics

  As an important component of academic research, journals are instrumental in fostering a clean academic environment, upholding academic integrity, encouraging a positive academic culture, and contributing to the robust growth of the academic field.
Journal of Seismological Research is committed to upholding a high standard of academic quality. It places a strong emphasis on academic ethics and fosters an innovative spirit. The journal is dedicated to maintaining academic integrity, eliminating academic misconduct, and providing trainings to tis editorial and review team. It adheres to the professional ethics of the publishing industry.
  Both authors and editors bear significant responsibility for maintaining the publishing ethics and resisting academic misconduct. Authors should be accountable for their writing, while editors should be responsible for the editorial practices. Therefore, it is necessary for the editorial office and the authors to communicate, cooperate, and make agreements on the issues of academic integrity involved in the process of publication.
  1. Authors should ensure that the content of the submitted articles is true and trustworthy, and comply with relevant laws, regulations, and policy requirements in China.
  2. Authors should guarantee that the submitted manuscript has no academic misconduct (such as multiple submissions, duplicate publications, false authorship, plagiarism, falsification, false annotations, improper citation, etc.).
  3. The editorial office should objectively and fairly review the manuscripts (or invite peer experts for review) in accordance with the aim and policies of Journal of Seismological Research, and select excellent papers that meet the requirements of the journal for publication.
  4. The editorial office invites experts or uses the "Academic Misconduct Literature Check System" to screen and detect manuscripts, in order to avoid potential academic misconduct in the journal editing and publishing process.
  5. Those who are named as authors should directly participate in the conception or design of the academic content of the article, the research work or the writing work. The order shall be determined before submission and shall not be changed thereafter. If truly necessary, the order could be changed if a consent letter signed by all authors is provided. Other contributors of the paper may be listed in acknowledgement. “Gift author” is strictly prohibited.
  6. All authors must disclose all potential conflicts of interest, in case that the financing/ personal status/ affiliation of the authors (or the authors’ organization/ employer) may affect the research result or academic writing. When a product is involved, the author should also disclose whether there is a conflict of interest against competitive products.
Authors should specify their contribution and disclose the conflict of interest in Authors Statement Form. If there is no competing interest, it should be also clearly stated.
  7. The editorial office will reject manuscripts with evidence of misconduct and notify the authors, their research group, or their affiliations based on the situation.
  8. Before the publication of the reviewed paper in this journal, the editorial office and the authors should sign the Copyright Transfer Agreement in accordance with the Copyright Law of the People’s Republic of China to protect the rights of the authors and the publisher.
  9. For papers already published in this journal, if academic misconduct is found, the editorial office will refer to the guidelines for journal editors by COPE (International Committee on Publication Ethics), publish a statement retracting the paper on this journal or its website, delete the data from relevant databases, terminate the dissemination of the paper, and try to eliminate any adverse effects. At the same time, depending on the severity of the situation, the journal shall give a warning to the author, or notify the author’s institutes or relevant journals in the field.
  10. In order to maintain academic ethics and ensure the academic reputation of the journal, all authors who submit articles to this journal are deemed to have recognized this guideline and are requested to exercise self-discipline accordingly.
