In this paper, the development history and construction status of China's geotechnical centrifuges are reviewed. And the performance indicators and functional characteristics of existing equipment are summarized.Taking the DCIME-40-300 power centrifuge of the Institute of Engineering Mechanics of the China Earthquake Administration as an example, the key technologies for developing geotechnical centrifuges for seismic toughness are described, including geotechnical centrifuge, centrifugal shaking table, cooling system of main engine room, rainfall simulation system,freeze-thaw cycle system, etc. The basic design plan or main points to solve the key problems are given.Aiming at the performance evaluation requirements of centrifugal shaking table,a performance testing scheme and evaluation index of centrifugal shaking Tab.are proposed, and several test results are given. The results show that when the sinusoidal waves load, the average waveform distortion is approximately 10.7%.When seismic waves load, the average amplitude error is approximately 4.44%,and the average spectral area error is approximately 5.89%.All are superior to the technical indicators stipulated by relevant industry standards.
